[For history buffs, here's a little background explaining the origin of the antique designs on these bowls, and how McIlhenny - the famous Louisiana company that makes Tabasco® brand pepper sauces and lots of other spicy concoctions - is involved with them.

In 1868, Edmund McIlhenny sent his first shipment of Tabasco Sauce from Avery Island to New Orleans. By the turn of the century, Tabasco sauce was world famous for it's distinctive piquant flavor.

At that time, the McIlhenny Company operated a seafood cannery as well. The designs for these bowls were adopted from the original oyster labels of that period. Although changes in the coastal environment near Avery Island meant abandonment of the oyster beds years ago, Tabasco Pepper Sauce remains the perfect seasoning for any oyster dish today.]
